The 14-wale count refers to the number of raised cords per inch; the lower the number, the wider and more pronounced the cords. This is a fairly standard wale size, giving you plenty of that lovely velvety texture, along with approximately 2% stretch for added comfort and movement. Brushing your hand one way will flatten the surface, while brushing it the opposite way will lift the fibres and create a fuzzier appearance. This can affect how the colour looks depending on the direction of the pile.
